All-Outdoors California Whitewater Rafting

All-Outdoors California Whitewater Rafting All-Outdoors offers 1/2, 1, 2 and 3 day California river rafting trip options for whitewater rafting on rivers throughout the state.

American River Rafting and their close proximity to the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento and Lake Tahoe areas provide quick day trips and overnight escapes for adventurous participants of all ages.

A large snowpack in the mountains does more than extend the season for California Whitewater Rafting and for California’s best rivers. When the weather starts to get really hot, a lot of snow begins to melt all at once, filling rivers below with an above-average volume of water. This particular phenomenon on rivers is referred to as “High Water.” Because most rivers don’t enjoy higher flows unless there is an above-average snowpack in the mountains, years with large snowpacks are often referred to as “High Water Years.”

An important thing to keep in mind, however, is that a high water year does not mean that rivers are high all season long. Usually, rivers start to experience high flows sometime in May, peaking in the beginning of June and lasting through to the end of that month. Even dam-controlled rivers experience this rise in flows, because reservoirs can’t hold all that water back
