Big Bear Lake California - Hiking

Find miles of trail to tackle around Big Bear Lake, from easy posted nature trails to the popular Cougar Crest Trail, which links up with the long-distance Pacific Crest Trail (39 miles of which run through Big Bear Valley). An Adventure Pass is required to park at most trailheads, available for purchase from businesses in Big Bear Lake and at the Big Bear Discovery Center, which also offers very comprehensive trail information to interested hikers.

Castle Rock Trail Intermediate
2 miles roundtrip 1 hour
Climb up Castle Rock, which is, indeed, a large rock, and look down on the lake below. This is a short, energetic hike through a gully.

Cougar Crest Trail Intermediate
Difficult
4 miles roundtrip 1-3 hours
This out and back trail can be rough on a novice hiker, but well worth the exertion if you like scenery.

Siberia Creek Trail Easy
Intermediate
Difficult
12 miles roundtrip 1-4 hours
The Siberia Creek Trail is beautiful and wooded, bright with wildflowers in the spring and summer.

The Champion Giant Lodgepole Pine Trail Easy
1 mile Less than an hour
This quick and easy hike is remarkable for what it leads to - a massive lodgepole pine tree.
