Open, grassy meadow surrounded by granitic outcrops and mature conifer forest of Red Fir, Lodgepole Pine and Quaking Aspen.

Emergency medical services are available at the Arnold Medical Clinic in the Meadowmont Shopping Center in Arnold, and at Mark Twain St. Joseph Hospital in San Andreas (Highway 49). Food, gas, camping supplies available in Arnold, Camp Connell, Bear Valley and Lake Alpine. Public (fee) showers are available at Lake Alpine Lodge.

Swimming and fishing for wild (non-stocked) Brown and Rainbow Trout is available in the North Fork Stanislaus River, via a 3/4 mile unmaintained trail.
