California Museum for History, Women and the Arts

This museum inclusively examines all aspects of California's rich history. After noticing that no museums covered the important contributions women have made, First Lady Maria Shriver spearheaded a reconceptualization of the existing museum to include not only women, but also the experiences and lives of Japanese Americans, Latinos, Native peoples, and others.

The museum is also home to the California Hall of Fame, established in 2006. The Hall of Fame honors Californians who have made an impact in the world. Past inductees have included Ronald Reagan, Elizabeth Taylor, Tiger Woods, Willie Mays, John Steinbeck, Alice Walker, and Amelia Earhart.
