Cascades - Boating

Lake Shasta is the largest lake in California, though nearby Trinity Lake and Lake Siskiyou are massive in their own right.  Lake Shasta's lovely setting, limpid waters and general size earned it the title, "Houseboating Capital of the World" but it's also a favorite with water-skiers, land-based campers, boaters and anglers;   Trinity Lake may be smaller, but it has its own "Cascadian" appeal, framed by forests and cliff-like stretches of shoreline and also a notable houseboating destination. Modoc National Forest is filled with lakes and creeks, too small for houseboats, but excellent for the canoeist or anyone who prefers paddles to motors.
