Fort Humboldt State Historic Park

Once an outpost meant to ease tensions between the Native Americans and the gold miners, Fort Humboldt is now a historic state park where visitors can get a feel for military life in the 19th century. Tour the Barracks, the Commissary, the Commander's quarters, a hospital, and even the one-time quarters of President Ulysses S. Grant, who was stationed there.
