Hat Creek Fishing Access Trail

Hat Creek offers 45 miles of pristine waters. The Upper section of Hat Creek provides anglers public fishing access throughout Lassen National Forest and Pacific Gas and Electric sites. This section is planted with rainbow, brook and brown trout by Calif. Fish and Game. The lower portion of Hat Creek below Baum Lake is the famous "Wild Trout Area." It is known for extraordinary fly fishing experiences. You'll find public fishing access sites at Pacific Gas & Electric and Shasta County sites. The upper and lower portions of Hat Creek have different fishing regulations. Please check the California Fishing Regulation handbook before trying your luck. You may also wish to visit the California Department of Fish and Game web site for the latest regulations.
