Island Lake lies at 5,000 feet and encompasses 4 acres. Exposed granite, willows and alders contribute to the tranquil scenery. The lake lies outside of Six Rivers National Forest but is accessed via its roads.

Take the Little Jones Creek Road (Forest Service Road 17N05) into 16N02, then left on 16N28 to the end where you will find the Island Lake trailhead. You must pack in.
