Lassen Volcanic National Park's Main Park Road is a colorful route that provides both a convenient way of getting around the national park and a truly pretty introduction to the park's volcanic hot spots. Look for geothermic vents along with hiking trailheads  and stunning views of Mount Lassen as you take in this road's lovely 29-mile expanse.  For a longer stint behind the wheel, consider a spin along 185-mile long Lassen Scenic Byway which takes in both national forest and national park in its scope.
