Lassen Volcanic National Park - Fishing

Trout is the species of choice in and around Lassen National Park. Eagle Lake especially is a prized fishing destination for the rare Eagle Lake rainbow trout, one of the few species that can survive in its alkaline waters. Brook, brown and rainbow trout are other fish commonly caught by anglers.

Butte Lake

	Butte Lake is not only in Lassen Volcanic National Park, but within one of its lava beds. This lake is open to non-motorized boating and is the scenery is spectacular.

Eagle Lake		Lake Size: 24,000 acres

	Eagle Lake is the second largest of California's natural lakes, wide and deep, but its size is not its primary attraction. Named Eagle Lake because of its large population of ospreys and bald eagles, those birds are drawn by the Eagle Lake rainbow trout.

Honey Lake		Lake Size: 47,000 acres

	Few lakes can boast as many avian species at water's edge as Honey Lake. A few of the birds you may spot here include the tundra swan, the Sandhill crane and the White-faced ibis.

Juniper Lake

	This large, high elevation lake in Lassen National Park is open for non-motorized boating.

Lake Almanor		Lake Size: 24,000 acres

	This reservoir is a classic mountain reservoir, set at elevation and surrounded by steep peaks and alpine fir. The water is clear and cool, mirroring an untouched blue sky.

Manzanita Lake

	This beautiful, green-rimmed lake makes for a relaxing boating destination and is filled with trout.
