Modesto - Tourist Attractions / Parks

Modesto might not be a tourist hot spot, per se, but the town does have an attraction or two to keep passers-through entertained, whether exploring Modesto's history at the McHenry Mansion and Museum or spending a summer evening at a ballgame. Modesto is the boyhood home of George Lucas and the inspiration for the town in American Graffiti, so you might see some familiar sites from the movie. Head fifteen miles northeast to Oakdale for the Cowboy Museum or to sample chocolate at the Hershey's Chocolate Visitor Center.
