Drive up Matilija Canyon Road to a locked gate with parking adjacent. Hike on road .7 miles through private property. About 200 yards past the second stream crossing, the trail will be on the left. It will take you to Murietta Camp after 0.9 miles. This pleasant camp offers three shady sites in an open area under large oak trees. Water is available at Murietta Creek most of the year. The trail continues another .8 miles to its intersection with Murietta Divide Road. Downhill this dirt road will lead 2.6 miles to the parking lot or uphill 2.3 miles to the Murietta Divide, with steep sections toward the end.
