Monterey's star attraction is, of course, the Monterey Bay Aquarium, but there's certainly cause to linger around post-sharks to see some of the city's other sights, whether you're in the market for historic buildings, art galleries or appealing seascapes seen from local vantage points. Don't miss the Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary or the Maritime Museum and be sure to add a whalewatching tour to your agenda when the weather permits.
