Joshua Tree National Park administers nine campgrounds, with daily rates ranging from $5 to $35 for group sites. Campgrounds are open all year. Several of the campsites accept reservations at 800-365-CAMP, but this is not usually necessary. Black Rock and Cottonwood campgrounds have water and flush toilets. Backpackers headed out on overnight trips into the backcountry must register at one of the park's 13 registration boards, and locate wilderness camps at least one mile from the road and 500 feet off the trail.
