Description
It's no too hard to see why the Bigfoot Scenic Byway is a place to get away from it all, having cruised its length. In addition to elusive "Bigfoot", the area is home to deep woods, rivers, and small towns that share elbow space with deer, elk, falcons, and eagles.
The Bigfoot Scenic Byway starts in Willow Creek, 260 miles north of Sacramento. The route travels north on HWY 96 where it ends in the town of Happy Camp.
Aside from tracking down or looking for Bigfoot, which can be done during one of the many Sasquatch-related festivals held throughout the year, there's a good range of outdoor activities to pursue. The Marble Mountains Wilderness is easily accessible if you dare, and the area is filled with hiking, rafting, biking, and eighty-nine glacial lakes. Redwood National Park is also nearby and is as enchanting as it is impressive.

Klamath National Forest - California (CA)
The landscape of Klamath National Forest is very diverse. Its terrain ranges from high desert to lush rain forest. The Klamath Mountains are the oldest of the Pacific coastal mountains, dating back 500 million years. These mountains have ridges of various sizes that have been deeply cut throughout time by moving rivers.
Because of the abundance of forested land and water, the Klamath National Forest is home to a wide diversity of animal and plant species. Almost 400 species of wildlife call the Klamath home,including 100 species of mammals and 237 bird species.
The forest offers great opportunities for hiking, biking,camping, and fishing.
Pacific Crest Trail (CA)
The nationally renowned Pacific Crest Trail provides access to an exceptionally scenic network of trails amid impressive granite outcroppings, volcanic ridges, open meadows, alpine lakes, crystal clear tributaries, and Sierra wildlife. The PCT is a national scenic trail and runs 2,650 miles from Canada to Mexico, providing a gamut of scenic hiking and backpacking experiences in the Western States.

Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest is home to incredible wild and scenic rivers, isolated wildernesses, outstanding fisheries and wildlife resources, and landscapes of mountains, meadows, streams, and lakes.
Six Rivers National Forest (CA)
The forest is best known for its valued timber, dispersed recreation, and outstanding anadromous fishing. Whitewater rafting and kayaking provide visitors with exciting water recreation opportunities.
