Description

Located just outside the prison walls in a surprisingly quaint home, the Folsom Prison Museum nonetheless gives outsiders an idea of what the Folsom Prison is all about. You can watch a videotaped tour of the prison, look inside a replica of a cell (complete with mildly provocative pinups), and examine a scale model of the famous wall tower and No. 8 gate.

Although Johnny Cash made the prison famous with this song, "Folsom Prison Blues," Cash was never actually a resident of the prison. However, other infamous inmates were Charles Manson, Rick James, and "Little Pete" Fong Ching, the mafia ringleader of Chinatown in the 1880s.
