Description
Palm Canyon is one of only two places in Arizona where palms still grow naturally. About a hundred trees remain. The hike to the palms is short, but strenuous. Take along some water. Kofa Queen Canyon is very scenic as you drive around a series of tall buttes. Camping is allowed on the refuge. ATVs and UTVs must be licensed and insured for highway travel. The speed limit is 25 MPH unless posted otherwise. There are many other roads to explore inside the refuge.
The road to Palm Canyon is wide and hard packed. The trip to Kofa Queen Canyon follows a wash that has soft sand mixed with rock. Terrain can change after rain storms. High clearance SUVs recommended.
