Description

Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride is one of the more popular mountain biking trails in the Tahoe area.

Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride features climbing at elevation and technical downhills through the alpine forests of the Sierra Nevada mountains. Granite boulders choke sections of the trail, creating exciting skill testing descents.

Views of Lake Tahoe peek through the forest at several points along Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride. Riders can choose to ride this trail one way with a car shuttle or as a 22-mile loop using the road.

Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride is multi-use and riders should understand and practice appropriate right of way protocol. Riders should also carry a first aid kit, bike repair kit and extra water and food. This is a higher elevation ride and visitors should be prepared for the possibility of quick changing weather. A map will come in handy due to the number of trails in the area.

Basic Directions

For the shuttle, park a vehicle in the downtown area of Meyers, which can be reached via Highway 50 west from South Lake Tahoe. Drive another vehicle to the trailhead by taking Highway 50 west from Meyers to Highway 89 and take a left. Follow Highway 89 to the Big Meadow Trailhead for the Tahoe Rim Trail. Ride from here.
