Description
Loveland reservoir is owned and operated by Sweetwater Authority, a public water agency. The reservoir stores drinking water for more than 175,000 residents of Chula Vista, National City and Bonita, Californa. Shore fishing is allowed in designated areas but there are no boats or watercraft allowed

To protect and Preserve water quality and the natural habitat, Sweetwater Authority and the USDA Forest Service established a partnership in 1997 to provide public fishing access aong a five-mile portion of the shoreline. In exchange for a parcel of land near the reservior, previousy owned by the U.S. Government, Sweetwater Authority provided land near Descanso, Californa to the National Forest System. This exchange increased natural habitat and forest lands available to San Diego County and Southern Californa residents and wildlife.
