ATV Information

Canyons, mountains and dunes are all within easy reach of downtown San Diego, a decent selection of which are open to 4WD drive use. Motorcycle-friendly Lark Canyon, near Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, and the bright rocks and plants of Yuha Desert are the closest off-roading sites.

The Imperial Sand Dunes are a 40-mile long dune system popular with off-roaders.

Lark Canyon OHV Intermediate

Miles and miles of trails 3 hours+
Plaster City is all open and varied desert terrain, 41,000 acres of it, an exercise in exploration for the off-roader.

Superstition Mountain Open Area Intermediate
Difficult
Miles and miles 3 hours+
Desert dunes and trails jagged with rocks are what you can expect at Superstition Mountain, and surfaces range from sand to mud. You can roam over 13,000 acres of rough land.

Yuha Desert Offroad Area
This is a limited use off-road area with varied terrain that takes in mud, sand, flat desert and hills.
