This quick and easy hike is remarkable for what it leads to - a massive lodgepole pine tree. The "Champion Giant Lodgepole Pine" is over 110 feet tall and 36 feet around at its widest. (Most lodgepole pines are 70 feet or shorter and don't grow at such low elevations as 7,500 feet - if you can call that low.)

Drive to Mill Creek Road (2N10) and take it through the change from pavement to dirt. Turn left on 2N11 when you run across it and follow the signs for Champion Lodgepole.
