Whiskeytown Lake

Whiskeytown Lake is located within the Shasta National Recreation Area and features miles of trails suitable for mountain biking.

The trails of the Whiskeytown Lake area follow 19th century water ditches, weaving along the lakeshore through thick forest. Riders in the Whiskeytown Lake area will be treated to fine views and a good aerobic workout along the way. There are some sections of technical riding in Whiskeytown Lake, which can be portaged by hiking for less experienced riders.

 Some More Things to Know

The Whiskeytown Lake area is multi-use and riders should understand and practice appropriate right of way protocol. Riders should also carry a first aid kit, bike repair kit and extra water and food. A map will come in especially handy due to the number of trails in the area.





 Directions to Trailhead

From I-5 take the Redding Exit. Go west on Highway 299 for 13 miles. Turn left at the Oak Bottom Marina. Look for the dirt parking area and Whiskeytown Lake trailhead.
