- April to November
About one and a half miles of the Little Shasta River headwaters are open to the public. These waters run through Martin’s Dairy Campground in a mountain meadow setting and are easily fished by the entire family.
Martins Dairy Campground has 8 family sites, and is open year round. There is also a Horse Camp about ¼ mile north of the main campground. Please note that horse trailer space is limited. The campground map or fishing map may be helpful in locating more information on specific areas.
A valid California state fishing license is needed to fish within the National Forest. Licenses are sold at sporting good and other retail stores. For information on fishing times & limits a current state fishing regulation guide is generally available free at these same locations. For more information contact California Department of Fish & Game.
From the west on Interstate 5 in Yreka, CA these waters can be accessed via Highway 3 through the town of Montague up the west slope of Willow Creek Mountain, then take Forest Road 70 south. At about three miles take Road 46N09 to Martins Dairy Campground, (signs are posted).
From the east on Highway 97 take Forest Road 70 to 46N12, then right on 46N09.
