Raft the best California white water rivers. The South Fork of the American River, Class II-III, is fun for everyone. The Middle Fork of the American River, Class II-IV, is perfect for the adventurous and fit first-timers or intermediate rafters. The North Fork of the American River, Class IV, is a step up to the major challenges of a Northern California river. The Merced River, Class III-IV, has the best set of raftable roller-coaster waves in California. The Kings River, Class III-III+ is a great family river. The Tuolumne River, Class IV, is the Mercedes Benz of all the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range rivers and is excellent for the experienced rafter.
