Basic Directions
Whitefish Horse Camp at west end of Crescent Lake or Yoran/Trapper Trailhead at west end of Odell Lake.
Description
Trail begins at west end of Crescent Lake and follows Whitefish Creek up through lodgepole pine to a beautiful view of Diamond Peak at Diamond View Lake. From there the trail descends along Trapper Creek through Engelmann spruce and white fir to the west end of Odell Lake. Near Diamond View Lake the Crater Butte Trail No. 44 is crossed.
The trail enters the Diamond Peak Wilderness Area shortly after leaving the trailhead. Wilderness Permits are required for both day-use and overnight travel in the Wilderness from Memorial Day Weekend until Oct. 31. Permits are available at the trailhead.
