Barstow - Tourist Attractions / Parks
If all roads lead to Rome then a number of really dry, dusty byways lead to Barstow, a small city in southeastern California. Set at a crossroads for two major interstates half-way between Los Angeles and Las Vegas, Barstow serves as a civilized stop-over for off-road enthusiasts and desert adventurers and offers access to a very modest clutch of cultural sights. Find out and about a museum or two, including one with Route 66 as its focus, filming locations like Bagdad Cafe and quaint Calico Ghost Town. Nearby there's also the Calico Early Man Site, a controversial archeological attraction with basic visitor facilities, and the Mojave National Preserve is an easy drive to the east.
