Boulder Creek

Basics
Length:
6 miles
Difficulty:
Intermediate,
Difficult

Description

The "creek" in Boulder Creek is not a clever substitution for "dry wash" or "former stream." If you hike Boulder Creek, expect to get wet and expect to get wet often. You'll be wading the Escalante River many times on your way to the creek - and then you'll be wading the creek.

These river-crossings are refreshing in the summer and the water a has healthy - and untouched - population of fish. You may be tempted to take a break along the banks and catch a trout or a catfish for lunch. The scenery is refreshing, too, all dramatic canyon walls narrow-close around the water. The hike doesn't need to end on the banks of the creek, either - Boulder Creek's secluded canyon continues on for miles and miles.
