El Centro - Hiking

El Centro's history as well as its distinctly desert setting makes it an interesting starting point for the hiker who can take the heat. Be sure to pack plenty of water and avoid hiking in the dead of summer when temperatures soar.

Calcite Canyon		Intermediate	4 miles	2-3 hours

	The Calcite Canyon is formed of sandstone and calcite crystals together, which makes for some truly unusual rock formations.

Mesquite Mine Overlook Trail		Easy	1 mile	Less than an hour

	Who wouldn't want to get a glimpse of a large California gold mine? This short trail lets you look down over it from the heights.
