San Francisco - Hiking

Anyone who has enjoyed a stroll along San Francisco Bay when the air is cool and the fog is coming in "on little cats feet" can vouch for the charms of city wandering. Conveniently, there is also a good selection of rural routes (196 miles worth) to consider in the greater Golden Gate National Recreation Area, or take a walk along the iconic Golden Gate Bridge for sea breezes and stunning vistas.



Alum Rock Park - South Rim Intermediate

Walk under beautiful shade trees, and by not only Alum Rock, but a mineral spring spa.
Baltimore Canyon Intermediate
 5 miles 2.5 hours
Watch for waterfalls as you explore this fern-thick canyon.
Berry Creek Falls Intermediate
Difficult
 12 miles 6.5 hours
Redwoods, four waterfalls, banana slugs - yes, banana slugs. You'll find these on this tough, but extremely gorgeous and extremely unique hike through California's first state park.
Black Diamond Mines Hike Intermediate
 5.2 miles 2.5 hours
This hike runs through a historical preserve. See coal mines, an old cemetery and amazing San Francisco Bay vistas.
Blue Rock Springs Park Intermediate
 3 miles 1.5 hours
These grasslands roll into hills, hills broken up by sudden crags of rock. Watch for peacocks!
Cataract Falls - Mt. Tamalpais Intermediate
 2.6 miles 2 hours
This is a walk to take after a substantial rain - the seven waterfalls will be phenomenal.
El Corte de Madera Open Space Preserve Intermediate
