Downtown Los Angeles

In most cities, this is the tourist hub. Not so in Los Angeles, where it is home to Walt Disney Concert Hall and little else in the way of “sights.” (Save the massive Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, the third largest cathedral in the world.) This is, instead, the site of the bulk of Los Angeles’s population. Ethnic communities such as Little Tokyo and Chinatown gather in the El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historic District. The Silver Lake community is live with music and art, Exposition Park is a major LA sports center as well as home to a number of museums. Downtown also comprises East and South Central LA, which can be rough, but the gloriously junky Watt Towers are worth a look.
