Sierra Nevada - Whitewater Rafting

The American River, the Carson, the Kern, the Merced, the Stanislaus and the Tuolumne - many of California's whitewater rafting rivers are within the Sierra Nevadas, beginning high within their peaks and rushing down rough into the valleys. You can find every run from the "Interior Yosemite" section of the Merced, practically a float, to the ferocious "Forks of Kern" segment of the Kern River here.

American River Up to Class V
Over 4 days
Some rivers are wild and some are gentle and some are an exciting hybrid of both. The American River is a hybrid. Although never so gentle as to be a float trip, a beginning rafter won't be intimidated away. Conversely, the most experienced of experienced rafters won't be disappointed.
